Classroom Use at a Glance
Paid Grade 4 physical science animated science cards. Students encode and decode light flashes and sound taps, then compare signal designs using a shared code and fair trials. Learn animations lead to feedback in Review and independent Mastery practice. Teacher-led offline HTML and three teaching PDFs are included. Supports selected concepts within NGSS 4-PS4-3, 3-5-ETS1-2, 3-5-ETS1-3 without replacing hands-on student investigations.

What makes three flashes a message rather than three unrelated lights? A signal works when a sender and receiver agree on a code and can distinguish one pattern from another. This is a useful design problem for a science class because the pattern can be tested.
Students compare flashes and taps as messages, work with code keys, and decide how to make a signal easier to understand.
FireFlash Animated Science Learning Cards · Grade 4 · Physical Science. Each silent Learn animation introduces one idea before Review questions provide feedback and bring back missed ideas. Mastery gives students individual practice. Use the cards in class or on student devices; no student account or separate app installation is required.

What Students Explore
Ten animated science learning ideas move from observation to explanation and evidence-based practice:
- An agreed pattern can carry a message.
- A sender starts a signal for a receiver.
- Light flashes and sound taps can carry a message.
- A code key helps a receiver decode a complete signal.
- Clear gaps and distinct patterns keep messages apart.
- Encoding assigns different patterns to useful instructions.
- A sender and receiver need a shared code.
- Choose a signal that fits the success rule and limits.
- Use fair trials to compare signal designs.
- Improve a weak design, then retest to check it.
Two Ways to Use FireFlash
- Online — individual Learn → Review → Mastery: Share an authorized student link or QR code. Students watch silent animated cards, answer questions, and receive feedback and opportunities to revisit missed ideas. A qualifying completed online session can produce a printable or PDF completion certificate. Browser progress is saved on that device; results are not automatically sent to a teacher gradebook.
- Offline — teacher-led classroom display: Download and open the included self-contained HTML in a browser for projection or group discussion without an internet connection after download. Discuss the animations, invite predictions and decide on responses together. The offline group version intentionally has no individual student completion certificate.
Exactly What Is Included in the Download
One FireFlash download ZIP containing four files:
- Offline Full HTML: Self-contained animated science cards and interactive prompts for teacher-facilitated classroom display.
- Start Here & Teacher Guide PDF: Classroom setup, web-app access and pack guidance. Purchase-specific teacher access instructions are delivered privately.
- Student Check PDF: Optional printable science questions for practice or discussion.
- Answer Key PDF: Teacher-facing answers for the printable check.
The FireFlash web app and downloaded offline HTML serve different purposes: individual practice and eligible certificates happen online; the offline file supports teacher-led learning without individual score reporting.
Ways to Teach With This Pack
- Whole-class science: Project a Learn animation and ask students to explain what they notice or predict next.
- Small-group reinforcement: Revisit important visuals and vocabulary with teacher guidance.
- Independent online review: Students use the authorized web link on their own device for Learn, Review and Mastery.
- Reteaching and make-up work: Use the pack to reinforce a recently taught concept or revisit missed instruction.
Set your own classroom pace; a complete pack is not guaranteed to fit a short station rotation. The cards supplement classroom instruction and investigations rather than replacing them.
NGSS Alignment
4-PS4-3 — Partial Grade 4 Alignment
Students explore how shared patterns of light or sound can transmit a message from sender to receiver.
3-5-ETS1-2 — Partial Grade 4 Alignment
Students compare possible signaling designs against a goal and practical limits.
3-5-ETS1-3 — Partial Grade 4 Alignment
Students use results from fair trials to revise and retest a signaling design.

Access, Download and Classroom License
This digital learning pack is a one-time purchase with no subscription. The provided files support licensed, single-teacher classroom use. The license does not transfer copyright or permit redistribution or resale.
The FireFlash web app requires an internet connection. For the paid pack, the purchasing teacher uses their private unlock instructions to generate an authorized student access link or QR code; the teacher code should not be shared with students. The standalone HTML needs no web connection after the file is downloaded.
Student results: The online certificate reflects that completed session, including first tries and retries. The offline version does not create an individual certificate or automatically synchronize scores to a gradebook.
