Turn the classroom lights down slightly and hold up a familiar book. The book does not have to glow to be visible. Students can build a straightforward path from a light source to the book and then toward an eye, discovering why the middle step matters.
Trace light from its source to an object and into an eye, then test what a barrier, mirror or changed viewpoint can do.
FireFlash Animated Science Learning Cards · Grade 4 · Physical Science. Each silent Learn animation introduces one idea before Review questions provide feedback and bring back missed ideas. Mastery gives students individual practice. Use the cards in class or on student devices; no student account or separate app installation is required.

What Students Explore
Ten animated science learning ideas move from observation to explanation and evidence-based practice:
- A light source makes light; an ordinary lit object reflects light it receives.
- Ordinary rough objects can reflect light without making clear mirror images.
- Seeing an ordinary object involves light traveling from a source to the object and then into an eye.
- Seeing requires incoming light to reach an open eye.
- An opaque barrier can block source light before it reaches an object.
- An opaque barrier can block a lit object's reflected light from reaching one viewer.
- A correctly placed mirror can redirect reflected light toward an eye.
- Changing the viewer position can change which reflected light reaches the eye.
- Changing the available light can change how easily an ordinary object is seen.
- Evidence helps us repair a seeing model that omits, blocks, or misdirects light.
Two Ways to Use FireFlash
- Online — individual Learn → Review → Mastery: Share an authorized student link or QR code. Students watch silent animated cards, answer questions, and receive feedback and opportunities to revisit missed ideas. A qualifying completed online session can produce a printable or PDF completion certificate. Browser progress is saved on that device; results are not automatically sent to a teacher gradebook.
- Offline — teacher-led classroom display: Download and open the included self-contained HTML in a browser for projection or group discussion without an internet connection after download. Discuss the animations, invite predictions and decide on responses together. The offline group version intentionally has no individual student completion certificate.
Exactly What Is Included in the Download
One FireFlash download ZIP containing four files:
- Offline Full HTML: Self-contained animated science cards and interactive prompts for teacher-facilitated classroom display.
- Start Here & Teacher Guide PDF: Classroom setup, web-app access and pack guidance. Purchase-specific teacher access instructions are delivered privately.
- Student Check PDF: Optional printable science questions for practice or discussion.
- Answer Key PDF: Teacher-facing answers for the printable check.
The FireFlash web app and downloaded offline HTML serve different purposes: individual practice and eligible certificates happen online; the offline file supports teacher-led learning without individual score reporting.
Ways to Teach With This Pack
- Whole-class science: Project a Learn animation and ask students to explain what they notice or predict next.
- Small-group reinforcement: Revisit important visuals and vocabulary with teacher guidance.
- Independent online review: Students use the authorized web link on their own device for Learn, Review and Mastery.
- Reteaching and make-up work: Use the pack to reinforce a recently taught concept or revisit missed instruction.
Set your own classroom pace; a complete pack is not guaranteed to fit a short station rotation. The cards supplement classroom instruction and investigations rather than replacing them.
NGSS Alignment
4-PS4-2 — Partial Grade 4 Alignment
Students use light-path models to explain how reflected light reaches an eye and why blocking or redirecting light changes what is seen.

Access, Download and Classroom License
This digital learning pack is a one-time purchase with no subscription. The provided files support licensed, single-teacher classroom use. The license does not transfer copyright or permit redistribution or resale.
The FireFlash web app requires an internet connection. For the paid pack, the purchasing teacher uses their private unlock instructions to generate an authorized student access link or QR code; the teacher code should not be shared with students. The standalone HTML needs no web connection after the file is downloaded.
Student results: The online certificate reflects that completed session, including first tries and retries. The offline version does not create an individual certificate or automatically synchronize scores to a gradebook.
See the Light & Reflection Grade 4 guide for illustrations and the science topics in this pack.
