The Six Triple Eight (PG13 – 2024) Movie Guide challenges students to explore ideas of determination, teamwork, and courage. Discuss how Lena and her friends work hard despite being separated from others, and notice how Major Charity Adams teaches her team to be proud of themselves. Compare and contrast main characters, analyze how Major Adams is treated and the ways in which she overcomes discrimination. As a bonus, research the Mason-Dixon line and how it adds context to the movie. Finally, in question 12, challenge students to reflect on a primary source interview, with Major Charity Adams and General Evelyn P. Foote (can be viewed on YouTube, link included). This gives students an opportunity to connect the real Major Adams with the movie and hear from the primary source how she faced segregation and made brave choices in real situations.
