This Movie Guide Substitute Version made for Inside Out (PG – 2015) is designed to be used with my original movie guide for classrooms with students of varying abilities and teachers that need differentiation. Unlike the original version, which you can find more information about below, this guide focuses on multiple-choice questions and short answers instead of essays. The questions are similar to those in the original guide but are tailored to lower levels of DOK and Bloom’s Taxonomy. This version offers teachers more options to suit different learning levels in their classrooms.

See the original Movie Guide here with higher level questioning:

Movie Guide made for Inside Out | EQ | Social Learning (PG – 2015)

This resource consists of 5 short answer questions where students describe ways that Riley’s emotions cause her to act throughout the movie, 6 multiple choice questions with an option for students to choose “E” and write in their own short answer, and 2 short answer and reflection questions.

This product includes a .zip file with the following files:

  • An answer key (5 pages)
  • CCSS alignment indicating standards met (1 page)
  • A PDF with link to a Google Slides version (1 page)
  • A student movie guide (5 pages)

Here are my tips for using Movie Guide Substitute Version made for Inside Out (PG - 2015) in your classroom:

  1. Print one, double-sided movie guide for each student
  2. Preview each question on the movie guide as you come to it before resuming the movie
  3. Pause at the times designated on the movie guide and help students if necessary
    • Discussion here is great, encourage and allow students to share their ideas and thoughts for any question
    • Discourage students from simply copying answers
    • If needed, and if time allows, feel free to rewind and show important parts of the movie for additional analysis
  4. After completing the short answers on the movie guide, allow 5-10 minutes for each essay question at the end
  5. On average, completing this movie guide will require about 30 minutes in addition to the length of the movie
