Classroom Use at a Glance
60-minute teacher PD simulation on entry routines, active supervision, bottlenecks, and adapting the first academic action when classroom conditions change. Includes professional noticing, four progressive reps with debriefs, a critical-contrast replay, closing reflection/transfer evidence, a completion record, Professional Learning Certificate of Completion, and Administrator PD Approval Sheet.
Practice a real teaching decision instead of just reading about one. Before the Bell: Preventing Chaos Before It Starts is a designed 60-minute Classroom Reps professional-learning simulation in which educators notice classroom cues, choose plausible responses, observe consequences, reassess, recover when needed, compare a critical contrast, and connect the learning to their own setting.
60-minute teacher PD simulation on entry routines, active supervision, bottlenecks, and adapting the first academic action when classroom conditions change.
What you will practice
- Building a visible, teachable entry routine that leads to the first academic action
- Using positioning and active supervision to catch bottlenecks and peer problems early
- Distinguishing routine or access failures from unsupported assumptions of deliberate noncompliance
- Reteaching and adapting the routine when materials, arrivals, or conditions change
How the 60-minute module works
- Orientation + professional noticing - 5 minutes
- Rep 1 + debrief - 9 minutes
- Rep 2 + debrief - 9 minutes
- Rep 3 + debrief - 9 minutes
- Rep 4: apply the skill in a new situation + debrief - 9 minutes
- Actual-path critical-contrast replay - 8 minutes
- Paired closing reflection - 11 minutes
Scenario setup: In an eighth-grade cross-curricular classroom, students are expected to enter, collect materials, move to the designated location, and begin a projected starter independently.
Professional-learning documentation
- Task-gated 60-minute completion design; idle time does not count toward completion
- Four progressive practice reps with module-specific debriefs
- Critical-contrast replay and closing reflection/transfer evidence
- Professional Learning Certificate of Completion
- Administrator PD Approval Sheet and completion evidence structure
Professional framework alignment
- Danielson Framework for Teaching (2022) — 2c, 2d, 2e
- InTASC Standard 3 — Learning Environments
- National Board Five Core Propositions — 1, 3, 4
- Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning — Learning Designs and Implementation
